FACE BOOK reviews
"The tone and description that was set was directed towards children. Enjoyed how the book asked questions towards it's audience"
October 20 · I purchased the paperback book. The illustrations are beautiful and the stories are short for our little ones attention span.
Looking forward to the next book.Ann Guagenti Keep the books coming!!!📷1

A new 5 book safety series will be released in the near future featuring Laylah as a "Safety Officer" for children ages 2-8 years old. The intent is to remain under the main title of "Through the Eyes of Laylah".
The format differs from the original series in a few minor ways because the main focus of the 5 books are carefully selected topics of safety concerns for children. Stay tuned for more information on this topic.
Laylah is enjoying a nice Florida "winter" with a little cooler than normal temperatures for us, but much better than Ohio. She is still the best baby ever!

LAYLAH'S BOOKS PAGELAYLAH'S BLOG

Mommy participated in her first Twitter PBPitch which is a way for writers of Picture books to "Pitch" manuscript ideas to agents/editors. Mommy pitched 7 ideas total, and, even though she did not get any agents to like it, she accomplished a lot and I am proud of her. She is working hard (so do washing machines!). She also got practice for the next one. It happens 3 times a year, so the next one is in June.
I will share the 7 pitches with you. The first 5 are from the safety series and one is about Aunt Ruth. The last one is about my surgery and how the cone made me feel anxious.\
POISON:
#PBPitch Laylah, a playful and adventurous Shetland Sheepdog, dreams about having fun at a birthday party but finds that the grass isn't always greener on the other side - it can make you sick! Readers learn about poison safety in approachable book from a dog's point of view.
FIRE:
#PBPitch Shetland Sheepdog Laylah handles a hot topic of fire safety at a Castle. She helps 2 children teach their mom about escape routes, various fire safety issues in the house, and especially cooking in the kitchen.
STRANGER DANGER
#PBPitch Stranger danger, doggies beware. It looks like there’s a stranger over there. It is not a rhyming book or a dream. Laylah faces a stranger and knows what to do. Learning stranger safety in approachable book from a dog’s point of view.
ELECTRIC
#PBPitch Shetland Sheep dog Laylah is charged up about electricity and water not mixing . Fingers in outlets, knives in live toaster- shocking. Learning electricity safety in approachable book from a dog’s point of view.
POOL SAFETY
Rules, rules, pool rules. No pushing, no running, adults must be present. No undercover swimming (Laylah). Dog paddle is for dogs only; humans please find your own name. Children learn swimming safety in approachable book from a Sheltie's point of view. #PBPitch

AUNT RUTH
#PBPitch Lonely 96yo Aunt Ruth in CA reunites with FL niece after 42 yrs. and meets Shetland Sheepdog Laylah, adding life to a frail, elderly woman still living at home. They create lasting memories and continue to communicate weekly. Discover how fragile life is.
SURGERY/CONE
Shetland Sheepdog Laylah is anxious and feels like she doesn't fit in when she has to wear a cone after having surgery. She is worried about being bullied or ridiculed but learns to embrace her differences and abilities. #DIS #PBPitch

Mommy has been very busy these days. Yesterday, 3/1/21, Mommy submitted a query to the PBParty and did not start to celebrate right away. She got ready for today's competition where you write a book with 50 words. That is unbelievable, but Mommy did it and it was actually pretty good. Next event: She will participate in #PitMad on 3/4/21 on Twitter to try to get an agent to represent her. Once she gets that, I can work less (I think that's how it works). For this, it will be like the PBPitch Mommy did last month.
A little side note about me: I have been taking up a lot of Mommy's time with my severe illness, but I think I am on the mend. This is my third antibiotic and it looks like I am improving! Next doctor visit is next week and we will know for sure. Mommy is much happier now that I am getting better!
Mommy has been sending these safety books to agents to get represented by agents (called Querying) so they won't be published just yet. She is not sure when she will be publishing them. Stay tuned...

Laylah was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer and is undergoing evaluation for treatment options. She is on one medication to help with inflammation and pain. If no further treatments are done, she does not have a good prognosis. Please pray for her to get better. Thank you for stopping and looking.
6.2.2021
Laylah is still undergoing experimental treatment for her bladder cancer and is tolerating it. She will have an ultrasound done later this month to see how the tumor is doing with the treatment. Hopefully it will shrink!
She continues to inspire me with ideas (as well as Josie)! The sloth book is ready for an agent to take over or for me to self-publish. The dolphin and butterfly are done, but not good enough for #PITMAD contest tomorrow on Twitter.
GOAL: Be ready for #PBPitch in 2 weeks!
Please continue to pray for Laylah.
